President's Message

The new Rule book will be available June 1st. You can view and print this online at www.mountsterlingcc.com. If you do not have access to a computer, please let us know and we can print you a copy. Beginning September 1st, the newsletter and calendar of events will only be available on our web page or a copy can be obtained from the clubhouse or pro shop. If you still need a newsletter mailed, please let us know.

We have received donations for new flooring in the living room at the clubhouse. Starting with Bud Lane (who generously donated $750.00) and got the donations started. Other members who donated, as of this newsletter, are; Floyd Jack Ison, Dan Reeder, Randy Cockrell, Spears Stilz, Randy Norwood, Kyle Beckham, Will Clark and Josh Coffman. We appreciate these donations. Anyone may make a donation to the living room floor fund.

This is the busiest season for the club, so come out and enjoy all the amenities that we have to offer. I look forward to everyone enjoying the member/guest golf, dinner and dance.

Even if you are not playing in the golf outing, you are welcome to come to the dinner/dance. The cost of the dinner and dance is $14.25 plus tax and gratuity. ($5.00 for dance only) The dinner features a three entrée Buffet which includes “Chef Carved” Prime Rib. Band for the evening is 2 Cool. Dinner starting at 6:30PM; Band at 8:00. This will be a great social event to support your club. The dining room is open on Friday evening with “Chef Specials“ available.

Please note some of the featured nightly dinner specials on your restaurant calendar of events. Last month our first cook out of the season was rained out. The next cookout is planned for Friday June 12. The clubhouse is open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday, offering daily lunch specials (wraps, sandwiches and salads). We can always have your lunch prepared and waiting for you, if you want to call in your order.

New Event: The first Wednesday of each month, we will have members serving as bartenders and will have $1.00 hamburgers available. Also, each member will be entered into a drawing for a $100.00 giveaway. At the end of the evening, a name will be drawn. To win you must have been at the club on that evening and purchased food or beverage. If the name drawn has not participated that evening, then the monies are carried over to the next month with another $100 added on the first Wednesday of each month. Same procedure. Carryover will continue until the end of the year and a name will be drawn at the President’s reception. The only names that will be entered then are the Wednesday night participants. Hopefully someone will win each month!

Wednesday June 3rd , starting at 5:00 pm, $1.00 Hamburgers will be available (dine in only). Guest member bartenders for the evening: Joel Lane and Chris Peck.

When anyone is playing golf and wants lunch, you may call in and pick up your food at the bar or the window. Storing this number in your phone would be a great idea! 498-3020

Golf Course News
Nick Auxier, Superintendent

The weather has finally decided to shape up a bit the past few weeks. The rain has subsided and some sunshine has decided to stay around for more than a day at a time. The golf course maintenance staff has been busy finishing up the bunker and sod projects. The fairways and tees, albeit slow, are starting to fill in. They really started to grow during the last part of May.

We have removed most of the cart signage from the golf course and have placed markers at the corners of each approach. Please exit to the rough on the outside of these markers. Also please try to avoid driving carts between the green and greenside bunkers on holes 2 and 4. This will help us keep the approaches and turf around the greens in the best shape possible.

I would also like to remind all golfers to do their part in taking care of the course by fixing ball marks, filling divots, raking sand traps and obeying cart rules. In closing, the course is in great shape…get out and enjoy it!!

Nick
