Thanks to all members and their guest who have visited us at the Clubhouse Restaurant this past month. Please note some of the featured nightly dinner specials for September on your restaurant calendar of events. The clubhouse is open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday, offering daily lunch specials (wraps, sandwiches and salads). Call the clubhouse at 498-3020 and we can have your lunch prepared and ready for you to pick up or dine in. Friday, September 11 we will be featuring our “Chef Carved” Prime Rib Buffet. Other entrée’s will be served on this buffet. Our Seafood Buffet will be the last Friday of the month. For non-seafood lovers, we will offer Steaks, Burgers and Hot Browns. When anyone is playing golf and wants lunch, you may call in and pick up your food at the bar. Storing this number 498-3020 in your phone would be a great idea! Reservations always appreciated.
The first Wednesday of each month, (this month September 2), we will have member bartenders, this month is Jason McCormick and Boone Razor. We will be offering $1.00 hamburgers. Dine in only. Also, each member will be entered into a drawing for a $100.00 giveaway. This has become a great social event. Each month that you are here it gives you and extra chance to win!. At the end of the evening, a name will be drawn. To win you must have been at the club on that evening and purchased food or beverage. If the name drawn has not participated that evening, then the monies are carried over to the next month with another $100 added on the first Wednesday of each month. Same procedure. Carryover (now $400) will continue until the end of the year and a name will be drawn at the President’s reception. The only names that will be entered then are the Wednesday night participants. Hopefully someone will win each month! No winner in August-the name drawn was Roland and Judy
Ratliff and unfortunately they were not here on that evening. A special thanks to our member bartenders in August, Abby Evans, Farrah Ingram & Beverly Cord. They donated their gratuities of $280.00 towards the club fundraiser. (Club golf outing and fundraiser tentative Sunday, September 27).
Social events & golf outings coming up: Most Saturday’s in September are booked for private functions. Wednesday, September 23 we have the Whitaker Bank ladies luncheon booked and we will be closed for lunch to our members this day.
We are scheduling our chili cook off for Saturday, November 21. Kentucky plays at Georgia. With fall fast approaching now is the time to perfect your chili recipe and win that coveted parking spot from Bryce Walker. Please mark your calendar for our New Years Eve party on December 31.
We will miss all the wonderful well mannered children that have been coming to the pool window this pool season. A gracious thanks goes to all the parents and grandparents of these children. We do hope to see them in the restaurant.
I am now booking Christmas luncheon and dinner parties. Please call if you would like to schedule a group for lunch or dinner. Please check for updates regarding our calendar of events on our website. www.mountsterlingcc.com I try and send out an e-mail each day with friendly reminders regarding clubhouse specials. Golf Course News
Nick Auxier, Superintendent
As fall rapidly approaches another great golfing season at the club starts to wind down. We still have plenty of maintenance tasks to perform in the upcoming months. Over seeding of the approaches and intermediate roughs will begin soon, with greens’ aerification coming around the first week or two of October. A solid date has yet to be determined. I realize these practices can interfere with play, but they are necessary in providing the best playing conditions. The course has remained in great shape through August even with all the rain and cooler than average temperatures that we have had.
We had another successful Gate City Invitational even with the large amounts of rain received a few days prior to the tournament. The golf course maintenance staff worked very hard during that week preparing the golf course. I’d like to thank Brad Reynolds and Bryce Walker for their help in locating and loaning pumps and generators to get the water out of the bunkers. We wouldn’t have been able to return them to play as quickly without these tools. Still, as fall approaches, some of the best golfing weather comes along. I hope that everyone can get out and enjoy the course.
Nick
